CUSTTAD

During its time in the local Primary School the room in which the work took place was usually referred to by the children as 

THE ROOM WITH THE SAND 

When the approach began to be used in an NHS Community based clinic we were asked to provide a name that could be used in any of the documents which would be produced during an evaluation. The cards below show something of the thinking behind the one we eventually chose although in the final version the C stood for Combined.  I.e The Combined Use of Sand Trays and Talk and Draw: CUSTTAD.

It was also eventually chosen because of its similarity to a substance well liked by most children.  It has not been universally approved of !
